Festival Rock 2012 - FourPointOh

On Saturday 7th July, performing at the O2 Academy Leicester, acts from schools across Leicestershire came together to create 8 hours of non stop live music for Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service third Annual Festival of Rock.  The event was held in association with Marshall Amps and Premier Drums who provided prizes for individual performances.  The competition featured Rock, R'n'B, Rap, Pop, Funk and acoustic acts.  It was organised by Matt Newnham, Head Of Rock & Pop, Leicestershire Schools Music Service.

In a fiercely fought Battle of the Bands 'FourPointOh’ claimed the inaugural prestigious 'Jim Marshall Trophy' for 2012!   The ‘Jim Marshall Trophy’ will be awarded to Groby Community College and additional equipment should also be provided.

FourPointOh is made up of four students from Groby Community College, Oliver Frost (drums and piano), Becky Woolman (lead singer and bass), Rob Fulton-Hamilton (lead guitar) and Joseph Evans (rhythm guitar) who have been playing as a  four piece for just 10 months.

Additionally, Sneaky Kev (Frank Greally) also from Groby College performed, winning the best Bass player award.

Thanks should also be sent to Brookvale High School who suggested to FourPointOh that they should enter and informed them of the event.
