‘This is a GOOD school’ - Ofsted 2013
I am delighted to inform you that Groby Community College, which was inspected by Ofsted on 27-28 February 2013, is now deemed to be a ‘good’ school. We felt that the inspection was a real reflection of our vision ‘Achieving Excellence Together’ and the progress that the College has made since 2009 in our journey towards becoming truly outstanding.
The report is available to you on the College and the Ofsted website from Friday 15 March 2013. You can view the report by following this link: http://www.grobycoll.com/index.php/home/parents/ofsted. If you do not have access to the internet a paper copy of the report is available for you to collect from Reception.
I would like to thank all the students, staff and governors who have worked so hard to achieve this inspection outcome. The inspectors repeatedly commented on the positive behaviour and attitudes of the student body. Students were referred to as courteous, polite and ‘prepared to go out of their way’ to help. Behaviour in the sixth form was commented on by one inspector as ‘outstanding’.
The College was described by another inspector during the feedback meeting as being well into a journey towards outstanding. As a result of this inspection, we have been given some helpful targets which will support our continued improvement over the next 4 to 5 years. The report includes the following statements:
• Students make ‘exceptional progress in English’
• ‘Teaching is good and much is outstanding’
• ‘Students enjoy the college and behave well’
• ‘Marking is used well to give students excellent guidance on how to improve’
• ‘Senior leaders and governors have high expectations in all aspects of college life’
If you would like to discuss the outcomes of the report with us further then please attend our Parent Forum on Wednesday 15 May 2013 at 7pm. Our post-Ofsted Action Plan will be the main topic for discussion when we will be asking parents and carers to help us to shape the required improvements.
Thank you again for your continued support.
