On Thursday 27 September, 48 former Year 11 students were recognised for their success, hard work and wider contribution to the college.
This was the 2nd Annual Student Awards to be held at the college. It was a tremendous celebration as the college recognised not only the academic excellence of students such as Phoebe Coleman and Callum Tebbatt (the highest achieving students of the year), but also those who had overcome adversity to achieve outstanding success.
Eve Radoja scooped three awards including the Pride of Groby trophy presented by Principal Robert Coles. Eve blossomed over the last two years to become a confident and articulate student. Curriculum area and House awards were presented by the team leaders in recognition of the outstanding personal and academic success of some of the students.
The star and guest speaker during the evening was media personality, renowned gardening expert and former student Ady Dayman. Ady left the college in 2004 and has subsequently followed a career in radio and television as well as running a specialist chilli growing business. Ady wowed the crowd with memories of his time at the college and gave some personal advice to the students on how to succeed as they embark on the next phase of their education.
