Community spirit at the college

As the year comes to a close, I would like to thank all students, staff and parents/ carers for their continued hard work and support.  Although there is much to be done before the end of term, I would like to wish you a peaceful and restful holiday.

It has been a term of great individual success with Year 12 student Lucy Whitfield winning gold in Karate at the WIKF World Championship and Emma Pye becoming UK German Youth Adviser. We are extremely proud of both students for their individual success and for being such great ambassadors for our college.

Sporting and science ambassadors have also been at the forefront of work with the community over recent weeks. On 30 October nearly 200 students from our catchment primary schools visited the campus for a winter sports festival.  9 post 16 Sports Leaders worked with Year 9 students from Brookvale to lead a range of the sporting activities. The post 16 students included Helen Parr, Sagar Pandya, Charlotte Broad, Tom McGlinchey, Sam Burbidge, Ben Gilbert, Daisy Johnson, Georgie Stewart and Ellie Johnson.

'Remember, remember the 5 November'; for a group of young physicists from Kirby Muxloe primary school, they will do just that!  15 Year 6 students, led by a team from our science faculty and A Level science students, set off rockets and spent the afternoon learning about the chemical reactions.  My thanks go out to the students and staff who led such an exciting afternoon.

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year
