LBI is a newly-formed faculty comprising Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), Business and IT. The faculty has a team of nine hard-working and committed teachers and possesses a suite of six classrooms, each equipped with ceiling-mounted projectors. We have two dedicated IT suites to support and enhance students’ learning experience.
MFL Business ICT
MFL
In the MFL department we aim to make learning languages fun, interactive and challenging. We also like to emphasise the cultural, communicative and career benefits that studying a language can bring. We have vibrant learning spaces, well-equipped classrooms and a dedicated ICT suite with up-to-date software to enhance students’ learning experience. The suite is open to students to use before school and at break and lunch times. In addition, we employ Foreign Language Assistants who work closely with students to develop their spoken skills and confidence. We organise a range of extra-curricular events each year, recent examples including: a 3-day residential to Paris, a 4-day residential to Germany, cooking lessons, debating competitions, oral confidence building sessions, Easter revision sessions.
BUSINESS
In Business we aim to make learning fun, we bring real life business examples into the lessons wherever we can and encourage students to take an active interest in the business world.
We have vibrant learning spaces with well equipped classrooms and a dedicated ICT suite, with links to valuable Business Studies websites to aid the students learning.
To enhance learning, a number of extracurricular events are organised, these include educational talks at Alton Towers, Marks and Spencer’s and Cadburys World. Students also have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills by setting up their own company through the Young Enterprise programme.
ICT
Our ICT department has a team of two enthusiastic, subject specialist teachers. We aim to make learning innovative and engaging to allow all our learners to develop skills required for the working world.
Our ICT suite is well equipped to meet out learners needs with dedicated up to date hardware and software to enhance the learner’s experience.
We offer all our learners extra support when required through our extended support program. Furthermore, we organise a range of inspirational trips to help visualise the importance of ICT in society.
