We live in exciting times and our society is increasingly based on the advances of science and technology. It is essential for all students to study all aspects of science (chemistry, physics and biology) up to the age of 16 so that they can better understand the world around them and make informed decisions as citizens. Studying science is increasingly based on the use of knowledge and problem solving and so develops many skills necessary for the world of work and is a requirement for many careers.

All students at Groby will study Science as part of the National Curriculum. We offer a wide range of courses to suite all abilities at both Keystage 4 and 5.

All the teaching staff are specialists in either Biology, Chemistry or Physics enabling us to offer highly specialised teaching in all areas of science.  We are supported by a team of 3 enthusiastic laboratory technicians who offer expert advice on the practical aspects of science teaching.
 
In the faculty we have 6 fully equipped laboratories and a newly refurbished ICT suite in the main building and 2 mobile classrooms. We have just started a rolling programme to refurbish all the laboratories over the next few years.
