TRANSPORT TO GROBY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Many students will walk/cycle or get a lift in a car, but there are also many who rely on buses to get to Groby Community College. These may be public services buses, dedicated school contract buses organised by Leicestershire County Council or may be services arranged by the College.
Please note that for all students it is the responsibility of parents/carers to ensure their child has an appropriate travel provision to ensure they arrive on time each day. The College is not obliged to provide transport for students although we work hard with you to secure appropriate provision.
Transport provided by Leicestershire County Council (LCC)
Some students may be entitled to free school transport, using a dedicated school bus service. Alternatively, parents may apply to use these services on a fee-paying basis if the student is not entitled to free transport. Applications for fare-paying places need to be submitted to LCC by mid June 2015 (see LCC website for details).
As LCC is changing entitlement criteria for September 2015 onwards it is important that parents are aware of the changes and check carefully about the eligibility for their child. Please see the letter from LCC and also refer to their website for additional guidance:
www.leics.gov.uk/school_college_transport
The Transport Unit at LCC has responsibility for eligibility checking for home to school transport.
For parents/carers who want to know if their child is entitled to school transport please contact:

Fee Paying Buses provided by the College
For students who do not live in our catchment area or live in the Kirby Muxloe area within 3 miles of the campus, the College (in conjunction with Brookvale High School) provides two services which are independent from Leicestershire County Council, through G. H. Watts Coaches .These are both fare paying services.
1. Leicester Forest East/ Kirby Muxloe Service
The cost for this service is £1.50 per journey, or £12 per week if paid on a Monday morning for the entire week. All payments are made direct to the driver on entry to the bus.
2. City Service (New Parks/Glenfield/Western Park)
The cost for this service is £440 for the year, payable in installments direct to the college. Students will be issued with a pass by the college. If they do not have a pass they will not be permitted to travel on the bus.

Our Vision for Teaching and Learning
We are a proud and aspirational community whose goal is to be outstanding. We believe in working together with students, staff, parents, partner schools and the community to achieve excellence for everyone. Valuing and developing each member of the College is central to our drive to be an outstanding school for our local community.
Excellence means having the highest expectations of our students and their potential. Each student's achievement is guaranteed by outstanding teaching and learning which is creative and engaging for all. No student will be left behind and we must challenge our students to recognise that true success comes from hard work.
In order to ensure that all learners value learning as a lifelong process the college will ensure that all members of the community strive to promote an environment where all students are encouraged to realise their full potential through developing confidence, resilience and independence.
